Here’s how to solve Vladena’s Jewelry Safe in Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys.
Vladena challenges you to open her safe. This is an Amateur/Master Sleuth puzzle, and it is broken up into a few parts:
- Find the fan gauge pieces
- Connect and align the fan gauge pieces
- Placing the gauge
- Solve the math
- Find the tick mark numbers
- Compare order with symbols
- Enter the safe combination
Step behind her desks and read the three papers with clues. You need to find the silver 3-part fan gauge first. If you are on Amateur Sleuth, one part is found by the large gem displays on the shelf. Another part is found in the little table between the chairs next to the flowers.
If you are on Master Sleuth, these pieces are tucked away in the center circular jewelry display in the middle of the shop and hiding by the green plant on her desk.
In both levels, you can find the fan gauge base in her pencil cup. Double click on one of the pieces in your inventory and add the other two to attach it. Align the pieces so that that black stripe lines up. You’ll know you have it aligned correctly once it moves and does a “swoosh” sound, and you can no longer move them.
Take the gauge over to the other counter/desk where the colorful jewel guide is and add your gauge to it. You will need to do the math to make the equation true. Align the gauge so that numbers from the pink, orange, and green column appear in the cutouts (shaped holes). Check your math to see if you have placed the gauge in the right place.

Once you have checked to confirm your gauge is placed in the right spot, solve the math inside the cutouts and using the number total, count the digits based on how many tickmarks are indicated.
Return to the other desk with your number cutout values and pair up the symbols with them.
Check the safe. Above the number pad are the symbols. This is the order to enter those values.
