In Nancy Drew: The Secret of Shadow Ranch, Nancy needs to open the blanket chest compartment. Below the birds is an illustration of the clock. Look at the clock on the fireplace mantle for the colored numbers. Match the bird colors with the colors on the times of the clock. Red is 12 o’clock, light blue is 2 o’clock, and yellow is 7 o’clock.
You will need the turning cranks, which are found in the roll top desk. To open the roll top desk, you will need the key from Dave, if you do not have it yet.
Place the turning cranks into the bird slots on the blanket chest to point to their correct colored times.
