Here’s how to how to solve the Candles of Copper Puzzle in Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys.
After you snoop Adela’s bag and receive the translated Alchemist’s journal, open the book up to flip through the pages. You can better read it by pressing the R to Read the text in a simpler font. Three riddles are given.
Go and talk to Patricie about everything you can and especially about the riddles. The dialogue option is “I need a hint.” From that, you can ask about each riddle. While talking to her, be sure to ask her about where Leo is, and ask her about seeing the knight in armor lurking outside at nighttime before bringing these riddles up.
Riddle 2: We are brothers of the sun…
Patricie will tell you about candles to look for. This alludes to the candles just outside the Dean’s office.
Step up to the candles on the table in the hallway just outside of the Dean’s office. Notice the symbol on the left. It matches the symbol on the coin you recently picked up from the alchemy lab in the cabinet.
If you haven’t done this, enter the Dean’s office and look at his desk. Move the plant to pick up the paper “Faith Weekly” to familiarize yourself with the article on the Copper coins. The word for Copper in Latin is CUPRUM. Return to the candles. Spell CUPRUM by highlighting only the letters you need, and depressing the other letters (into dark state). Do this by clicking on the candles. Each candle affects the four squares surrounding it. If a square is light, it will turn dark. It the square is dark, it will turn light.
