In Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water’s Edge, you will need to find where the culprit went and confront them. Once you escape the Yurei attack, talk to Takai about Kasumi’s will and ask her what really happened to Kasumi.
Next, head to the shed in the garden, take the new recorder, and translate the pink note on the workbench. Take the orange remote control for the doors and make your way to room 33. From the hall, you can open the door by using the orange remote.
Step inside and confront the culprit. The culprit tries to make it to the exit – use your orange remote control to close the door. Nancy will then empty her bag. Choose the audio recorder and press a button to begin recording the rest of the confrontation. Congrats! You have cornered the culprit!
Note: there are two dialogue options during the confrontation. They each result in different outcomes for the culprit, but you do not get any award for choosing one or the other.
