Here’s how to solve the Glass Cylinder Artifact puzzles in Nancy Drew: Mystery of the Seven Keys.
After you help Adela with her laptop and talk to everyone about the mysterious Rezidente organization, return to the museum near Oskar and take a look at the glass cylinder artifact in the open box.
The first part of the puzzle is the top.
Head over to the glass display near the door to the left and read the book. If you hit the R on your keyboard, and scroll all the way down, you can find the notes about Kepler’s law more clearly, but what you really need to see are the bolded letters on the page in that paragraph. “First circle. Then eclipse.”
Back at the artifact make sure the sun is in the exact middle of the orbits. Then grab the black dot on the orbit and drag it clockwise one full rotation in the perfect circle.
Next, click on the sun to move it outward. Click the black dot in the orbit and drag it clockwise in the ellipse (oval) one full rotation. This unlocks the next part of the puzzle.
Click on the CH icon at the foot of the cylinder and Nancy will mention the need to learn more. Return to Vladena’s shop to locate the other item that has the CH symbol on it: the glass poem on the wall.
Read the poem (it’s easier by clicking on the R button). This contains the clues to open the cylinder. The person who’s symbol you are looking for is Rudolf, since that old book mentioned that he commissioned Casper Lehamm as the royal glass cutter.
Look for the letter R symbol for all four clues. You may have been familiar with this symbol after watching Radek’s puppet show and seeing that the marionette for Rudolf had a crown with an R on it.
The first clue: Seek first the jeweled father of Cain
Location: On the cathedral, a mural of Adam and Eve with the serpent
Symbol: The royal apple, as mentioned on a plaque in the museum titled “The Scepter and Royal Apple”
The second clue: Follow the path of the creature iosis along Golden Lane
Location: In Old Town near Golden Lane near the West House.
Symbol: Oroborus, which is also mentioned on the chart of the alchemy book you acquire in the café.
The third clue: Find the symbol of he who bestowed honor of knight
Location: the Rudolf marionette on the puppet stage near Radek’s wagon, look under his feet
Symbol: Coat of arms
The fourth clue: Then the winding stars find whose omen strikes at midnight
Location: by the Astronomical clock
Symbol: the skeleton holding a lantern, known as the Clacker
Rotate each gold dial so that the correct symbol appears in the window. Once you have all of them aligned, click on the CH icon at the foot of the cylinder to open it.
