Review:
Nancy, Bess, George are trying to earn money for a music concert featuring their favorite singer, Katy Sloan. Hannah Gruen, the Drew’s housekeeper let’s the girls use her secret strawberry-lemonade recipe, but when the written notes disappear, the girls start investigating. Was it the science nerd? Their competition, Lilly? The friends who are competing on a kids cooking show? Readers have the opportunity to match up clues and make a deduction before Nancy reveals how she solves the mystery.
The story is fun, has great moments of investigating and of course involves lots of great summer treats. At one point George lies to the suspects to get them to open their door, and poor Bess has to give her charm bracelet to George’s 3-year-old brother in order to get a paper from him. Nancy at one point gently confronts a suspect who lied about something, and the suspect agreed to confess and tell her truth. Throughout the story Nancy, Bess and George feel shame in losing Hannah’s recipe, and prolong their confession until they know how they lost it.
This story will certainly make readers want to try making their own lemonade or at least drink some, with how often the drink and ingredients come up.

For ages 6-9
Length: 89 pages in the main story (more with the title page, series lists, book 2 sneak peak, and ads).
Interestingly, on page 36 is an illustration of Nancy, Bess, and George discussing the case in their swimsuits sitting on a giant floatie. This same picture was used in the previous book, Pool Party Puzzle, so this looks like an error, because there is no context for this scene in this story.
