Review:
Nancy, Bess, George are invited to Deirdre Shannon’s half-sixteenth party (she’s turning 8). During summer break, it is held in the Shannon’s backyard and is a pool party. Everyone was instructed to come in costume upon arrival, but take them off to go swimming.
When a fake snake is found in the pool and scares off the mermaid for hire, Nancy, Bess and George are determined to figure out who did that. After the party they follow up on clues and question suspects. All the while Dierdre Shannon is bossy, mean, and selfish.
Once Nancy exclaims that she figured out who did it, a page in the book breaks up the end of the 9th and start of the tenth chapter with a fun engaging page to fill out for yourself and place your own clues and suspicions of who the culprit it before chapter ten is read, where Nancy reveals her answers.
I found the ending quite satisfying, especially who the culprit ended up becoming.
