You, as Frank Hardy must help Joe hunt for ghostly ‘cold spots’ in the cemetery, using your own equipment. You receive a journal for your “Ghost Wavelength Spectral Analyzer 2.5” scanner which tells you to adjust the scanner’s wavelength with the unknown wave that appears. All three cold spots are in the same locations for Amateur and Master sleuth levels.
To find the first cold spot, make a U-turn from Joe, and take two steps towards the gated entrance of the cemetery. The scanner will beep loudly and Frank will look at the scanner closer.
Second location: From location 1, make a U-turn and walk all the way down the path to the Hathorne sign, turn left, and take one step forward.
Third location: make a U-turn, then step forward and turn right. Facing towards Joe, walk towards him and stop one step after him. Turn right and step forward once.
The puzzle is randomized every time you look at the scanner, so if the red waves (the moving waves on screen) look too intimidating, you can X-out, and re-visit your cold spot for a new wave set.
For Amateur Sleuth Level, you only have two knob settings: 1 for Frequency, 1 for Amplitude. If you rotate the amplitude to the right, you can see it makes the wave peaks taller. If you rotate to the left, it makes them shorter. It helps to start with the height. Rotator your amplitude knob until you match the height of your waves. If you rotate the frequency to the right, you get MORE waves. If you rotate to the left, you get LESS waves. You can count how many red moving waves are on your screen. When you adjust the number of waves, and you get really close, try aligning the waves. You can check to see if you are close enough by letting go of your cursor. If Frank doesn’t react, keep adjusting.
For Master Sleuth level, on switch 1, the amplitude knob rotated right creates MORE distortions vertically (up and down). When turned left, it creates LESS distortion vertically. The frequency is more like a selection of different patterns to choose from. On switch 2, the amplitude knob continues adding more distortions vertically. Like when you have a remote control with volume that only goes to level 5, but you have to get another remote for volume levels 6-10. I recommend keeping one of your amplitude settings to the far left (lowest point) to start your work.
On switch 1, the frequency knob adjusts how MANY waves/peaks you have. On switch 2, the frequency knob shows the different patterns to look through.
