Hogwarts Legacy, the much anticipated open-world wizarding game was published and developed by Avalanche Software and released on February 9th, 2023. The game also had a Deluxe Edition at higher prices, with a few extra items and early release access (February 6th). The game was launched for PC, Xbox Series S | X, and PlayStation 5 consoles, with launch dates for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 5th, and Nintendo Switch on July 25, 2023.
To quote the game description from the official web site, here’s what the game is about;
Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. For the first time, experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.
The game is a single-player, open-world action-adventure game set in the 1800s at Hogwarts School. While there are a few familiar character names, this is a unique story and time where you get to play as yourself, a student, following a new story. It has rich environments, immense exploration opportunities, fun combat, an interesting story, and follows the cannon of the Harry Potter world. The main story does not narrow the gaming experience, since there are many quests that you have to choose to follow along the way.
According to the site How Long to Beat they state the game’s main story takes around 25.5 hours to complete the main story, and an additional 41+ hours on side quests and completing everything.
