Fun Facts

All of the character names are references to wolf themes.

    • Randall is the last name of the character in the film Wolf.
    • Guadalupe can be shortened to lupe which means wolf in Italian.
    • Comillo means ‘fang’ in Spanish.
    • Volkstaia loosely means ‘wolf pack’ in Russian.
    • Kessler is the last name of the werewolf in American Werewolf in London.
    • Lou is similar to ‘loup’ in French, which means wolf.
    • Sheriff Mahihkan’s name is Cree for ‘wolf.’
    • Julius McQuade’s name is a reference to the film, ‘Lone Wolf McQuade.’

The fictional country of Fredonia is inspired by the Marx brothers’ similarly named country in Duck Soup.

The story Yanni tells about his grandmother being devoured by wolves is inspired by a similar story related to Willa Cather’s My Antonia.

Mystico’s responses describe either past villains, hint givers, or ‘clients’ for Nancy.

One idea for the Mystico song was to have the name stand for something. The song Nancy was to sing was “M for his mystery, Y for this…uh, mmmm…., S for the Suspense, T for the tingling sensation of doom, I for the Icy stare of his hypnotic gaze, C for the countless fans and O for Oh My. Mystico!” But was shortened to something catchier, resulting in the final song “Call 1-555-MYSTICO and prepare to be amazed!”
